Pain in your foot?

23rd May 2023

What do you do when your toe goes into spasm?

Once upon a time there was a chap called Paul who came to me in desperation. His second toe kept getting stuck. He was told he had Hammer Toe. He had received injections in his foot. They stopped working after a few months and the Hammer Toe came back with a vengeance. Next he was told he needed surgery to cut the tendon. He was being pushed to commit to a date that he wasn’t comfortable with. Paul came to me because he didn’t want to have an operation. He’d already had the same done on his other foot some years before and ended up with more issues as a result. So Paul REALLY wanted to avoid this.

We try very hard not to over promise and under deliver. Paul was invited into the clinic for an hour-long initial consultation. During this time we started to realise that, when Paul was in a particular position, he would not only feel the pain in his toe, but he would also feel a strange sensation in his upper thigh. We tried the same on his other leg. The same sensation in his thigh, but because of the historic surgery, nothing happened in his other foot.

We sent Paul away with his first week’s homework: stretching, mobility work and some nerve flossing. When he showed up the second week he was a completely different person. It wasn’t “fixed” but what a difference! We continued working with Paul and slowly but surely his Hammer Toe disappeared.

If you are someone like Paul who has an issue with their hand or foot then get in touch for a free 20 minute consultation. We’ll soon let you know if we can help you or not!
