How our Injury Rehab works for you

Maybe you felt something pop. Perhaps you have got a niggling pain that comes and goes depending on load or rest.

Injuries can be really worrying. No one wants to feel like they are losing control of their body!

We know that the thought of taking time out to rehab an injury can be daunting, particularly when you have lots of other people relying on you. We like to use the analogy of you being the pilot of a plane. In order to be there for everyone else, you need to take care of yourself first.

BUT not everyone has loads of time available. So after an initial free consult we’ll work with you to find the right rehab programme for you. That might be that you really do just want the quick fix to get you through the rest of the day / week or you might be ready to take on the larger task of rehabbing yourself once and forever.

Either way, we’re here for you to craft something that works for you.

Initially we’ll tackle your pain before giving you some exercises to help drive the injury away.

If we do it right, by the time you are finished you’ll be resilient to further injury and have complete confidence in your body.

  • Back Operation Recovery

    Following a back operation last year, I was still experiencing some ongoing issues so I referred myself to Joanna in the hope that she would be able to help me. I have to say she has been amazing. Not only am I attending her classes, but she has given me so much individual support throughout the whole time since I had my first 121. I would have no qualms in recommending Joanna to anyone be it for mobility, strengthening or injury, she shows a real empathy with her clients and always goes the extra mile. By way of example, following a treatment I was struggling, she talked me through exercises I can use to ensure I don't suffer from the same issue moving forward, she also checked up on me throughout that weekend just to make sure I was improving, that shows real dedication to the wellbeing of her clients.   • Flautist with thumb pain

    I highly recommend Joanna for any kind of joint pain. As a flautist I was struggling with a really painful thumb. The doctor said it was arthritis. Joanna worked with me to put some exercises together and 12 weeks later I have done a full week of 8am-5pm playing without any pain!

    Definitely! We love to help people before they get injured, because if we can save you experiencing pain and injury, for us the world is a better place!

    If you want to share your story, then we are here to listen – no commitment at all, just the chance to find out how we might be able to help you!

  • Will it hurt?

    We try to do everything possible to make things stop hurting for you. However sometimes, pain is unavoidable when you are in acute pain.

    So we make a promise to every client: we explain what we want to do, show you what we want to, demonstrate it on the good side (if there is a good side) so that you are fully informed and consenting each and every time!

  • Are you a Masseuse, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Osteopath?

    Definitely not!

    Joanna is a Graduate Sports Therapist by education.

    BUT we are all Rehabilitation Therapists! We all access the same sort of tools, techniques and tests to assess and then treat our patients. We are just different flavours on a very broad spectrum.

    Ultimately, your decision should be based on your goals, objectives and communication style / preferences. You need a cheerleader shouting for your success at every stage!

  • Is there a quick fix for my back / neck / hip / shoulder pain?

    We can use treatments like massage and manual therapy to access your body’s own amazing pain killing systems, but we aren’t going to lie to you: Proper injury rehabilitation takes commitment and hard work on your behalf.

    It often takes months and years for someone to descend into injury, so it takes time to unpick the issues and strengthen to correct.

    We will be there every step of the way and we won’t bring you in for unnecessary treatments or keep you coming back for more than you need.

    Our goal is to rehab you once, do it right and send you on your way!

  • Can you help my child with their injury?

    It simple terms: Yes! But please check in with us before booking so that we can make sure your young person gets the best support possible.

    We are fully insured, have a full safe guarding policy and any of our Therapists working with young people will have an Enhanced DBS.

  • I can't afford 1:2:1 work - how else can you help?

    We appreciate that not everyone has spare funds aside for this sort of support but please do get in touch and have a chat.

    We will do everything we can to help you out, what ever your budget.
